Overview:
Promise, the follow-up album of their multi-million selling debut album Diamond Life , was released in 1985 and includes typical Sade songs and hit singles like “The Sweetest Taboo”, “Never as Good as the First Time”, “Is It a Crime” and “Jezebel”.
Promise became the band’s first album to top the albums chart in both the United Kingdom and the United States, assisted by an appearance at the Live Aid charity concert and a cameo in the film Absolute Beginners.
Over the years, Promise was certified double platinum in the UK, and quadruple platinum in the US, with Sade herself returning again as the queen of cool.
