Overview:
Jan Akkerman’s first solo album after his departure from Focus was self-titled for good reason – the musical compromises he apparently had to make in Focus are nonexistent here. This is Akkerman’s soul laid bare; beautiful guitar arrangements and impressive soloing are met with an ace backing band, including the powerful Bruno Castelucci on drums (who’s also appeared on several albums of German Jazz Funk hero Peter Herbolzheimer) and bassist Cees Van Der Laarse of Brainbox.
