Overview:
We don't need to spend a lot of words on Cypress Hill's second album Black Sunday. The album's flagship song "Insane In The Brain" received major airplay on MTV, and struck a major chord with alternative youth as well as hip hop fans. This is a unique facet of Cypress Hill that sets them apart from other Hip Hop acts that appeal to Hip Hop heads exclusively: Cypress Hill managed to rise above the genre.
Their marijuana filled lyrics, detuned and cleverly found samples (for instance, the horse sound on "Insane In The Brain" is from a 60s children TV-show), funky beats and nasal raps of B Real make Black Sunday a little trip to an early '90s latino ghetto, with a huge fun factor.
